MIDI won't work on Via onboard soundcard

I am running Mandrake 10.1 with a Via onboard soundcard that, as far as I know, does not support midi.

When I try to load Timidity as an Alsa sequencer, I get an error Message saying that "/dev/snd/seq" does not exist.

Is there any way to fix this problem? Or will I have to stick to doing something in rosegarden, saving, previewing in timidity(Gnome interface) and going back to rosegarden?

if you are SURE it doesn't support midi, then you need to get a soundcard that does.

What I mean is that It's not a Soundblaster.
Anyway, I have now solved my prblem, my drivers were not set up properly.

(As it turns out, Timidity is nearly as bad as silence, my computer is too slow for it)
