Microsoft lifecam

A brand new Micrsoft LifeCamNX-6000 has fallen into my hands. I'd like to get it working on my linux system.

My first thought is that there is no driver for linux for this device.

Next to that I guess I would need to venture in writing a driver for
it...

Well thanks for the help.

There is a UVC camera driver for linux, still under construction and not yet released.
http://svn.berlios.de/svnroot/repos/...nux-uvc/trunk/
There's the link to the berlios.de SubVersioN repository where you can view/download the driver sourcecode and compile it yourself.
It may or may not work, but it is intended for v4l version 2.
Might be done soon..
for your reference, the device code for that device is 0x045e:0x00f8 which you would use to identify the device should you want to check periodically at a place like this:
http://mxhaard.free.fr/spca5xx.html
which is where I go to look for webcam/linux info.

http://www.qbik.ch/usb/devices/searc...pattern=webcam
Keep an eye on this link; your device is like # 22 in the list.
