Mic won't work, Debian 2.6.6


my friend switched me back to oss sound drivers and it would work, however when I try to get my mic to work using alsa, it just won't work

I have a soundblaster live 5.1 card (which I bought new)

everything else works fine but can't get the mic to work no matter what

any help?

I had same problem with Soundblaster 5.1 Live.

Look at that page:

Here is the specific advice (quote from the page above) that worked for me:

In alsamixer, set Capture to something reasonable (I have 53) and *hit space bar* to enable Capture. Then set the volume for the
source you want, and hit spacebar for capture on that too. I have AC97 set to zero and AC97 Capture set to 100, not sure if this does anything, but mic/line/cd recording now works for me. - Jared 20020910

Well, more detail would help. What did you do in your alsamixer? Did you read other advice for your card?
