mga 400
Hi
env:
sw mandrake 10.1 kernel 2.6.8 Xorg 6.7
hw pc ibm pentium II 400 mhz with S3 on board video card.
Prb:
right of the S3 chipset on the mainboard there is an agp connector.
i installed a matrox MGA 400 AGP card
on this slot
bios setting:
card memory 16Mb,video size 64mb
i have to choose main video between AGP
and PCI ....
now the first questions :
1)what is the difference running this card in AGP or PCI mode ?
2) what is video size ? (does agp mode a part of main computer memory ?)
now sw configuration
i configure with harddrake the card with 16mb of memory and enabled the 3D acceleration.
but i'm unable to play linux games (i.e cannon smash) with 3d accelarion...isaw slow motionand a lot of lost frames.
in the recent past i installed the same card on a new linux installation (same products) on a pentium III pc 500 mhz
and i was able to play cannon smash.
i installed the card on a pc and then i installed all mandrake 10.1
3)what i miss adding theis card to my pc whare a mandrake 10.1 already exists ?
thanks in advance
Maurizio
