Question MEPIS-how to disconnect from internet

i couldn't properly setup my dial up connection on mepis so i used the following script file to connect to internet

#!/bin/bash
echo "user internet password internet" > $HOME/.ppprc
pppd /dev/ttyS0 115200 debug usepeerdns defaultroute noauth connect '/usr/sbin/chat -v "" at+crm=1 OK "atdt#777" CONNECT' mtu 264

executing it causes knemo to pop up but there isnt any disconnect button it.so how do i disconnect from the internet. using

#!/bin/bash
killall -9 pppd

doesn't help.it just disconnects mepis from the internet, but the modem is still connected to the internet.plz help me ,i'm new to Linux.
