Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Memory usage question

I recently had new memory installed (I now have 3Gigs). Today when I was just surfing the internet (I did nothing else yet), I noticed that my browser was very slow in responding. I looked at the system load using KSystem Guard, and I saw that the load average section had very high peaks. I was wondering is this normal?

My CPU is an Intel Model: 15.3.4 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz dual core.

Anyway, take a look at the snapshot to see what I mean.

You should probably look at the process list and see which one(s) are hogging resources.

There is also a command ...

You can at any time open a terminal and use the command "top" to see the load that is being placed on your system.

Unless I misread, that loadavg is peaking just above one - on a dual core.
You might have problems, but that ain't it. IMHO that is a bad graph - should be scaled to say 10.

I did the top command and saw that while it does vary, that my browser, Seamonkey, takes up a lot.
Today, Seamonkey is not behaving as sluggishly as before. I guess it seems to have bad days and good days.
