Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

media reader works in 2.4.20-6 but not 2.4.22

I guess I have a kernel upgrade coming but this is confusing...

I have a 7-in-1 media reader which works just fine under kernel 2.4.20-6 but isn't even recognised in 2.4.22.

Now, obviously, I've missed a driver/module when I compiled the x.22 kernel - but what?! There's no difference in the logs except the reader shows up or not depending... :/ (I compared fstab and lsmod specifically to see what was different and I didn't see nuthin...)

The reader uses the motherboard f-usb connector - which could be the difference. I see nothing in xconfig directly relating to this and all the available modules are correctly checked.

I suspect this is something subtle.

The reader uses usb-ehci, which was not installed in the 2.4.22 kernel. It must be hidden somewhere in the USB support in xconfig. I still havn't found it.
