Maudio delta 44 setup

I just bought an M Audio delta 44 soundcard, and am not sure how to get it set up properly. I realize it's primarily a recording card (and that's what i bought it for) but ideally I'd like to use it for all sound functions on this computer and throw my crappy Audigy card away. What I need to figure out is how I can route left and right stereo sound to two of the mono outputs on the D44 (for instance, output 1 might be left and output two could be right). Does anyone have any experience with these cards?

Generally, 1 is left and 2 is right when the card is installed and used by a program. When setting up a recording rig, you have more control over the assignments for the inputs and outputs, especially when using jack, ardour, jamin, etc.

I have a couple of recording computers with Delta 1010lt pci cards installed. I installed them on distros designed for recording (64studio and Ubuntu Studio), and since that may have been easier to set-up, I am not sure if I am going to help or hurt your cause.

Was the card recognized by the system? I will assume it was. Do you use jack for sound? If you are going to set up the card for recording, I am sure you will want that set up. Also, the Delta 44 is an ice1712 based card, and therefore can be operated with the Envy 24 control program. If you can download Envy, the interface is very easy to work with, and you can see that you have control over the inputs and outputs of the card just like the mixer software for the card in windows.

Yeah, the system recognizes it no prob, and i've been able to run input through Jack and into Ardour. If 1/2 are left/right by default, then no prob... that's what I needed to know. I'll check out envy24.

Thanks!
