Mandrake 8.2 connection sharing
Hi,
I am running Mandrake 8.2 and have been trying to hook up my DSL with Internet connection sharing over my LAN. I had been playing with Heartbeat so I already had two Netgear FA311 ethernet cards installed and everything seamed to be working fine. The DSL installed no problem and my LAN was up and working fine. So, I went to the Mandrake control center and attempted to activate the Internet connection sharing. It failed and gave me a message that there was a potential hardware conflict in eth0.bak? So I checked my Ethernet cards in Hardrake only to find they were not listed under "Network Device Cards" but rather in "Other Devices?". I did a cat /proc/pci and everything looked OK. Trying to solve this quickly I re-installed two link-sys LNE100TX cards only to find they did not show up correctly in Harddrake either yet they show up correctly on the pci buss and seem to be working fine. That is except for the internet connection sharing. I suspect in order for the internet connection sharing routine to run correctly the cards have to be detected in Hardrake. Any ideas? Can I go in manually and fix this? Can I just buy different cards to solve this? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks-
