Mandrake 10, USB stopped working
Hi.
Just got my ATi drivers working earlier today. I was playing around when I noticed that I had no sound. My speakers are Harman/Kardon Soundsticks (USB). I thought I had accidently changed something while I was playing with the ATi driver issue. I then tried to get my USB card reader going when I noticed it's LED wasn't on. I looked into the problem and found that all my USB had died (all 10 ports). All I could figure out from observation was that the LED was on while booting up, then when Mandrake kicked in and started loading, the LED went off. I know this has been asked before, but I can't find an answer that makes sense to me. Stuff you may help: USB is enabled in the BIOS, Mandrake can see the USB ports and the hub, it just can't see what's attatched. My USB works fine in Windows XP. Any help on this would be great. Please keep in mind that I'm a bit of a newbie and might get lost in your explinations. Thanks in advance! -Evan |
What happens when you run lsusb from the command line? You might have to be root to run the command, I don't recall and don't have a *nix box at work... yet :tisk:

Thnx for the reply.
[root@Ev evan]# lsusb Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 Doesn't look very interesting... does it help? -Evan |
I have a similar problem - lsusb returns nothing though...
...I'm very keen to know what it is as I have a sheet in the scanner as we speak... :) *edit* Was just talking to a mate on IRC. Try: Kernel 2.4: insmod usb_uhci or modprobe usb_uhci Kernel 2.6 modprobe uhci_hcd |
