Making Coasters

I am trying to burn fedora core 5 disks using a fedora core4 system(1.8 ghz). So far I have made two good disks and 10 coasters. I started out using nautilus. The first and fourth disks were good, the second and third bad. All subsequent tries were bad. I have checked the SHA1SUM on disk 2, which is mostly what I have been trying to burn and is making all the coasters. On the last try, I used the following command from a terminal window:

cdrecord -v -tao -data speed=8 dev=/dev/hdc /home/live2/torr/bordeaux-binary-i386/FC-5-i386-disc2.iso

It gave the following output:

Cdrecord-Clone 2.01-dvd (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2004 Jörg Schilling

All I can think of to try now is buying a new cdrom drive. Is there anything else I can try first?

Thanks,
Mark

Btw, I also bought a brand new pack of cds towards the end of this procedure, which didn't seem to change anything.

I'm not sure how to configure the burning software integrated into nautilus, but GnomeBaker supports Burn-Free which is a feature that eliminates buffer under-runs (the cause of most coasters).
