Lynx One - driver needed - pls hlp, tnx

Hi,

Finally got around to installing the Lynx One (okay, somewhat dated, but it was a hand-me-down ;) ... )
And now ... :banghead: the drivers...
Where do I find em? I've been looking around, but no luck so far.

OS : an old FC10, software: Audacity, drivers : ????
Source is okay, though it'll take some doing to get it running...

Snag, I've (kinda) ordered a mixer, it's lotsa-bucks so I'd wanna know beforehand is the Lynx at least will word...

Tnx

Thor

From the FAQ at

Quote:

Does the LynxONE support Linux?
YES! The LynxONE has Linux and FreeBSD drivers available for download from www.opensound.com. Support for these drivers is provided by 4Front Technologies.

Kind regards

Hi Repo,

Tnx for the reply...
I did the full compile, OSS is nowhere to be see, but does report to be working...I tried to start is up ans the system said it was already at work...
I try to set the device in Audacity, but I only get ALSA...the card is installed (I dont get any system sounds anymore so SOMETHING happened)
I may ned to see the Lynbx One in the drow-down om Audacity just to make sure the thing is detected/can work...

I'll sniff in the chat...if anyone ahs an idea, throw it in the mix, thanks

EDIT

This came after "osstest"

Quote:

NOTICE! You don't have any audio devices available.
It looks like your audio hardware was not recognized
by OSS.

If you have installed OSS just a moment ago then it may be necessary to.
to rebot the system before trying to use the device(s).
Does that mean
- OSS does simply not find the card
or
- the card is busted/broken...
On a win2k system (way before my Linux days) the card did get detected, it was in the box ever since...

More edit

The re-sintall did'nt help, it does say there are no mixers on the system, a clue? a hint? the plot thickens, and I'm running out a time...oh well

Hi,

Closing recap! I installed the whole bundle on AN OTHER pc! Can you get to grips with this? I was using a dud PC, for crying out loud! :/

So, Audacity (light PC, nothing fancy) does SEE the device (/dev/dsp) but I guess the thing only comes to life when hooked up.

I installed the 4Front driver (by the way - only the TARball has the driver I need, the RPM and DEB are - for me - useless)

All I have to do now is hook up a mixer and I'll be in bizz...hopefully!

Tnx for all the help...

Wellness to all

Thor
