LSI MegaRAID Sata 150-2 + Debian 3.1
Hey,
I have a LSI MegaRAID SATA 150-2 PCI SATA RAIDcard, which a variant of the Silicon Image 3112, hooked up to two Seagate 40gb SATA drives. Using the LSI BIOS, I created a RAID 1 mirror of the two drives without a single problem. After making the RAID 1, i rebooted and it flashed up on the LSI BIOS part of my boot as both drives responding, and that the RAID 1 is online. Once i boot into Debian 3.1 Netinstall CD, the standard 2.4 kernel install hangs detecting the harddrive so i try "linux26" (2.6 kernel install) and it goes all the way through to the partitioner that shows my SATA RAID 1 as a mere two 40gb drives, not raided. Because this is a SI3112 variant, the "sil_sata" driver in theory should work seeing the debian install loads it. Does anyone know why my RAID 1 is showing both drives in the install? Thanks |

I think 150-2 is really a software raid device. The 150-4 is true hardware raid. |
