Lower CPU freq

Hi there!

I've a P4 @ 2.4Ghz notebook just for work, view some mail and stuff like that.

My problem is that the CPU overheats too quickly and if i do something "harder for the CPU" for example play a movie the notebook restarts after a while due to the high temp, to prevent damage..
I think that if im able to lower the cpu freq i can solve the problem but there's no way that i can do that through the motherboard config.
So I'm looking for a way to lower the CPU freq (as its a notebook and there's no way of adding a new cooler) some kind of app or workaround, if its possible, so that i can do my normal stuff without having my hands burned.

I'm running as few process as i can and also a light WM (in case fluxbox) to lower the cpu ocupancy but that doesn't seem to work ..

Any tip/advice would be greatly appreciated

what sort of processor? which kernel?

You'll either want cpufreqd or cpudynd. without know any of your system details, it's hard to know which. should get you started though

and thats' my cpu info

Do you need any more info?

I've found some info about cpufreqd and cpudynd and I think thats what im looking for, but based on my hardware specs wich one fits better?

Thanks in advance!
