Lower CPU freq
Hi there!
I've a P4 @ 2.4Ghz notebook just for work, view some mail and stuff like that. My problem is that the CPU overheats too quickly and if i do something "harder for the CPU" for example play a movie the notebook restarts after a while due to the high temp, to prevent damage.. I think that if im able to lower the cpu freq i can solve the problem but there's no way that i can do that through the motherboard config. So I'm looking for a way to lower the CPU freq (as its a notebook and there's no way of adding a new cooler) some kind of app or workaround, if its possible, so that i can do my normal stuff without having my hands burned. I'm running as few process as i can and also a light WM (in case fluxbox) to lower the cpu ocupancy but that doesn't seem to work .. Any tip/advice would be greatly appreciated |
what sort of processor? which kernel?
You'll either want cpufreqd or cpudynd. without know any of your system details, it's hard to know which. should get you started though |
First of all thanks for helping!!
