Low quality prints from xerox 6110n

Hi

I am bit new to Ubuntu.
I have some problems with drivers for my printer.
The pictures that I have printed out is kind of dark, and of a low quality, here i used the default driver from Ubuntu (foo2qpdl)

Then I tried to install splix, but the the prints are now with to little color

I have tried install the driver form xerox.com. witch should work on linux, there are installed som xerox programs, but I cant add any new printers, ther comes at dialogue box with somthing about that I don`t have authorization.

Can any one help me with installing a popper driver for my printer.

Regards Ulrik

I don't use Ubuntu, but if you are getting a box that says that you don't have authorization, then I would guess that you are trying to install the drivers while logged in as a regular user, and not as root.

Go to a terminal screen and switch user to root, and try to install the drivers from the command line.

Given that you are fairly new to linux, if you can use a gui and be logged in as root, that may be easier.

Good luck

There is no root account on Ubuntu,

please try with the user password.

If you have an install script or installer :

chmod + x <installer>
sudo <installer>
( replace <installer> with actual name.)
.....

I have installed the software from xerox, I have problems using it, you can see at screen shot of my configurations @ http://ulrikkristiansen.com/Sk%C3%A6rmbillede-1.png. the problem is that I get the box LINUX:MESSAGE where is says that I do not have authorization. when I try to add a printer.

Well, two more possible solutions :
Set a root password, if you not already have one.

And use 'cups' directly, firefox http://localhost:631/
