I need to build a light weight server for some customers. I am looking for any recommendations that forum members might have on a hardware based RAID controller. I am not opposed to PATA versus SATA. I am just looking for something with good driver implementation for either Fedora or Ubuntu.

I have been looking at the Adaptec 2400A, but thought others might have better suggestions.

I am trying to install Red Hat Linux 9.1 on a HP Compac dc7600.

I get the message:
"No hard drives have been found. You probably need to manually choose device drivers for the installation to succeed. Would you like to select drivers now?"

I selected NO because I do not have linux drivers and
Runing anaconda .... please wait.
detects monitor, mouse, keyboard...

on the Disk Partition Setup give an option of
Automatic partition
Manually partition with Disk Druid

Both options give the error:
An error has ocurred - no valid devices were ound on which to create new file systems. Please chech you hardware for the cause of this problem
