Looking for an ATI-friendly Distro

I'm having problems using Mandrake 10.1 with my PCI Express 128 MB ATI Radeon x300SE video card so I'm looking for another distro. Can anyone tell me some more distros that will work with my video card out of the box and that are good for a first timer?

although not listed here
try a distro that supports the closest card listed to the one you have

my hunch would be Suse
but test-drive it first

I've tried out the LiveCD version of SUSE and it works. So the full version should work too I guess.
