Looking for a sound card

Hello all
I am looking for a sound card so that i will be able to play live radio, TV and FM radio. I tried looking up in the web and was not able to decide which on is the best for a reasonable price.

I want to run all this in a Red Hat 9 OS. COuld anyone suggest some sound cards and the approximate prices

Thanking you in advance

Hard to go wrong with creative. The SB Live! Value is cheap (~$20 USD) and a workhorse.

wangdrugay; 1st try LQO`s , RH hardware
compatibility lists for soundcards that would be what u desire. also try www.google.com/custom: at the site enter soundcard & particulars of what u need. u will recieve afew hits with recommendations. try creative labs, sound
blaster for they have sound cards supporting linux.

Hey forgot to mention that there will be no trial and error method of looking for a sound card... working for an organisation and they want a good one (with the price not very high) and they do not believe in trial and error...

Feel assured SB Live! value will work under RH9 and it's more than enough to do the things you need. Myself and many of the users here have this sound card, if I remember correctly there is no setup required to get this card working in RH9

Creative Labs Soundblaster LIVE has its qwirks like screwd up bus signals and many other problems. I suggest Turtle Beach Santa Cruz because it has much, much better sound quality and it is easy to setup. There is no support for EAX in Linux so the Creative Labs Soundblaster LIVE does not have an advantage over the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz. The mixer controls are not that obvious on the Soundblaster LIVE like the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz. What I mean if you are going to record or output 6 channels with the Soundblaster LIVE the controls do this is confusing. With the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz or any sound card based on the Cirrus Logic 46xx chip the recording and 6 channel setup are easy to adjust. You just need to adjust the center, subwoofer, surround for 6 channel output. Also you just need to adjust the ADC, DAC, capture to record sounds. With the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz you can record from a microphone and a sound file being played at the same time without writing an .asoundrc script. The Turtle Beach Santa Cruz has better sync than Creative Labs Soundblaster LIVE when playing video files.
