Well, as I've been messing around with Debian, I've noticed that the back and forward buttons don't work exactly as I've known them to work (going back and forth through a browser or file manager). I'm wondering if there's a patch or something like that to get this litle problem of mine fixed. The trackball works, and the up and down buttons work exactly like they should. It's just the back and forward buttons for browsing that doens't work.
Info on computer:
Celeron 2.4ghz
512mb DDR400 RAM
Debian (kerel = 2.4.27-2-386)
Logitech MX500 mouse
I promise you in all reality, this question has been asked and anwered one million times.
Simple searches will lead you to the resolution.
I have to admit searching these forums for "Logitech MX500" didn't help much. Also, checking out the HCL didn't yeild any direct howtos.
However, a google for "logitech mx500 linux' yelided many many results.
I'll leave that as that, I gave you the above keywords to work with and I'll let you search for the howto. There are plenty, so they should be easy to find. GL
I am hoping you are referring to the Keyboard of the MX500, and the "shortcut keys" make me think that. I would love to find out how to map any of the extra buttons on any of the keyboards which extras...
For the mouse, it is easy, and the same as intellimouse, there are a bunch of answers. But if like i suspect you are trying to get the keyboard shortcut keys to work, I will be following this with great interest, as I do the many threads where people try. I have yet to see anyone discover mappings for these, but I admit Ihave limited my searches to these forums, and haven't really gotten into it enough to start looking at the whle net exhaustively, as at least for now, I only use my linux box as a toy, and for practice and training. Not a serious system.
What I mentioned was strictly about the mouse since it appeared to me that the OP was only talking about the mouse.
I have a logitech internet keyboard with the 20 buttons up top that I never used. I believe they can be configured. You have to use a program to detect what signal is being sent when you press a certain button, then tie a command or script to that signal.
(Sorry about being general about the above, I've only heard a little about it.)
