Logitech MX Revolution in xorg

I posted this problem originally on the Slackware forum because that's the distro I'm using, but I realized, it's probably nothing to do with Slackware so I'm posting here. (Original post @ http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi....php?t=490643).

I have a Logitech MX Revolution mouse, which I'm trying to get to work under xorg -- and the problem I'm having is pretty weird. Moving the mouse left and right moves the pointer up and down -- and moving the mouse up and down also moves the pointer up and down, but very very very slowly. I've tried IMPS/2, Logitech, ExplorerPS/2 and msc for protocol...all the same result.

Anyone know how to get this thing working? It's a rather expensive mouse, heh.

I have the same problem with my 90$ Logitech mouse on slackware 11! It also moves only up and down..
.. so I just bought a standard ps/2 mouse and I'm working with it..

Seems like it's a common problem then! Hopefully someone can solve it!

I have installed Mandriva 2007 and NOW my mouse is working fine, I'm very happy with this distribution for it also supports greatly Flash USB Drives. It also connected me to the internet, and.. actually did a lot of work for me without asking any info from me, I guess this is the most friendly Linux distro I ever had

I know what your ploblem is I had the same one with my Logitech G7:

Slackware uses the 2.4 kernel series by default and I think that the 2.4 kernel does not have proper support for the hard-core logitech mice. Try a 2.6 kernel. (2.6.17 worked for me I think, I can't remember exactly which one I switched to).
