Logitech Mouse Undr Linux?

Are there any Linux drivers for the Logitech Wireless mouse?

oudent 04-13-2002 12:40 PM

I'm currently using my Logitech Cordless Mouseman Optical in RH7.2 with no extra drivers. Everything seems to work on it...including the wheel.

My research, though not to extensive due to exams, has given me the simple answer that there are no drivers needed or maybe just not available.

Good luck anyways

What's the section in your XF86Config file say about mice?

OK, unlike Windows where the GUI is (apparently) completely part of the system, Linux uses something called X (or X11, or X Windowing System...take your pick :)) to display graphics and control input devices (keyboard/mouse) when in graphical mode. There is a file (called XF86Config) that holds all the settings and things for your X sessions.

Now, to get things working, you could either tweak the file manually (which can be found in the directory /etc/X11), or you can use some X tweaking program.

Try closing your X session and running xf86config:
  • Open a terminal/console (the thing that looks like a dos box in Windows)
  • Change to the root user (type su root and then type root's password)
  • Type in init 3 (this drops you out of X and into a normal text console session).
  • Then type xf86config, or xconfigurator.
Alternatively, you could take a look at the file, and post here the section(s) about your mouse.

Ok, Cool Thanx for the clarification, It helps a LOT.
Unfortunately my computer went haywire! Its doing all sorts of bad stuff (you can find out what here: http://www.ntcompatible.com/vb/showt...threadid=20792)

I may have to re-install linux. Anyways, Since I'll have to re-install SuSE, I'll take a look at the config file as soon as the IS has been installed. Please check back soon on this thread, it WILL be updated! :)
