Logitech G7 Mouse -- Erratic Behavior

I've searched for help on installing a logitech G7 mouse and I found posts on how to set up the buttons or the scrollwheel, but my problem is different..

Whenever I use this mouse, random events occur in X. For example, a clicking the primary button over a firefox window sometimes selects the window, sometimes opens multiple tabs, sometimes enters a window-dragging mode that I can't escape from, etc. Or if I just move the mouse around the desktop, sometimes menus appear or programs launch, and I can't control how or when. I'd say about 50% of the time, the mouse does what I intend for it to do, and the other half of the time something completely weird happens. Has anyone else ever experienced this kind of a thing before?

Some potentially useful information:
I'm running Slackware 10.2, with kernel 2.6.18

Code:
bash-3.00# cat /proc/bus/input/devices
I: Bus=0003 Vendor=046d Product=c51a Version=4100
N: Name="Logitech USB Receiver"
P: Phys=usb-0000:00:1d.1-2/input0
S: Sysfs=/class/input/input0
H: Handlers=mouse0 event0
B: EV=7
B: KEY=ffff0000 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
B: REL=143
Here is a clip from my xorg.conf file:
Code:
Section "InputDevice"
     Identifier "Logitech G7"
     Driver "evdev"
     Option "Protocol" "evdev"
Option "Dev Name" "Logitech USB Receiver"
     Option "Dev Phys" "usb-0000:00:1d.1-2/input0"
     Option "Device" "/dev/input/event0"
     Option "Buttons" "8"
     Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5 7 8"
     Option "Emulate3Buttons" "no"
EndSection
What I'm afraid of is that maybe it's configured correctly after all, and it's just wireless interference causing all these problems...please let it not be that, but rather something that I can fix.. :P I don't think that's the problem though, because when I used it under Windows it works great.

Run xev from a terminal and examine some of the output. It should show things like "button press" and "button release" and I forget what else but they're pretty descriptive.

Also, what kernel are you using: I find that the 2.4 series doesn't support the G7 properly, I needed to switch to the 2.6 series with mine.
