Loads of cdrom: open failed in /var/log/messages

Hello all. I'm running RHEL 4, and see tons of:

Apr 15 07:15:05 machine1 kernel: cdrom: open failed.
Apr 15 07:30:05 machine1 last message repeated 3 times
Apr 15 07:30:07 machine1 last message repeated 2 times

The CD is operating fine as far as I can tell, and I've got false for storage_media_check in hald.conf:

<storage_media_check_enabled>false</storage_media_check_enabled>

How do I stop these msgs from filling-up /var/log/messages?

In fstab you can try to use noauto for the mounting option (do not confuse with auto on the filesystem type). Do you have an audio cd in there and it is trying to mount a filesystem automatically?

Hi, thanks for the reply. I've already got "noauto" set:

/dev/hda /media/cdrom auto pamconsole,exec,noauto,managed 0 0

and there's nothing in the CD tray.
