Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

LITE-ON SOHC 5232K Sound Issue

Have just completed a Fedora Core 3 install on a Shuttle SN45G. Everything works fine. However, my LITE-ON SOHC 5232K is not fully recognised by Linux. It installed the Fedora DVD perfectly. When I try to play an audio CD, the CD player comes up with the message "drive error". I can't seem to get CD side to work. Since I am a Linux newbie, my resource kit is limited? Anything I can try without touching the Terminal?
