Question Linux wont start unless i turn off ACPI


I cant afford this as i have RHEL WS4 and Windows XP Dual boot setup and windows wont run with acpi off while redhat linux wont run with acpi on.

in grub's menu.1st add acpi=off to the end of the line with the kernel listed (this way you can leave ACPI on in the BIOS and redhat's kernel will ignore it so you wont have to keep adjusting the BIOS setting)

something like:

title Debian
root (hd0,5)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.16-2-486 root=/dev/hda6 ro vga=769 acpi=off
initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.16-2-486
savedefault
boot

I am totally new to rhel ws4 and dont know how to program how do i do it?

boot up linux and with superuser powers (root, admin privileges) open your favorite text editor and edit /boot/grub/menu.1st by simply adding acpi=off to the end of the line that lists the Linux kernel like the example i shown previously...
