Linux soundcard

Hello All
I have two sound cards in my Linux(Fedora) system. I'd like to use both of them. The system recognizes both of them but I am able to record and playback in just one of them. Is there anything I have to do to enable the second one as well? I am using creative SB Live (CT 4780) soundcard. Thanks much.

Fedora should be using pulseaudio by default. If you install pavucontrol, you can use it to send different audio streams to the different sound cards, and configure recording apps to use whichever soundcard you'd like.

Thanks for replying. I don't have pulseaudio since I am using Fedora 7. The soundcards manifests itself as /dev/dsp and /dev/dsp1 but I am able to get streaming sound only from /dev/dsp(which I believe is default) but not from /dev/dsp1. I am wondering if there is something I should change in the modprobe.conf to get /dev/dsp1 also to work.

Sorry, but I'm not going to even try to support Fedora 7, and I doubt you'll find many people who will.

That is 13th of June 2008, so its well over 3 years out of support.

Why not try a newer version, or a different distro?
