Linux Router / Firewall

Hi,

Does anybody know of a good quality, rack-mountable, bare bones, hardware router/firewall that I could install Linux on. Prefereably one designed to have linux installed on it, something that does not come pre-loaded with other manufacturer routing/firewall software, preferably.

I've seen articles with regards to the Linksys WRT routers being re-flashed with linux, but could not find anything with regards to a rack-mountable router/firewall being reflashed with linux.

I currently run a Watchguard X700 in my office, but I do not like the GUI based administration, I do not have the control I would like have.

I know I could use an old PC, and install linux with a bunch of NIC cards, but that's not the route I would like to take.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

What is a rackmount router / firewall appliance without an operating system on it? it's a server with extra network ports.

Plenty of generic rackmount boxes to do this, e.g. http://www.advantech.com/ePlatform/NA/

People flash linksys routers becuase they are cheap small and fun. No one spends good money on a mid to high end firewall and then nukes it. you seem to want to do things properly, so do just that, don't look to bastardize expensive hardware!
