how to install linux on 256 MB (40 pin IDE Flash module) Flash and boot from the same?

linux on Compact Flash
1) Mount the CF
2) Install Linux as usual
3) IF boot from USB is supported by the motherboard THEN just boot; ELSE use some CF-to-IDE PCI adapter.
