Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Linux on an Aldi USB hard disk?

I'm thinking of getting a 200GB external hard disk from Aldi. I want to use this in my Linux environment. Will this work with Linux??

I am also thinking of installing something like a Live-CD on it (but W/R so I can edit my files.) Is there a problem doing this? If my computer does not have USB boot support can I load Grub or something onto a floppy disk then boot of it? (USB2 via PCMCIA)

Thanks, Scott

No problem. But why a live CD?

Thank you.

Something Like a Live CD (So I can take it to my Windows workstations at School and use my Desktop Environment.) Just want Linux installed so I can have a portable environment
