Linux Mint locking up randomly. ACPI problem perhaps?

The latest version of Linux Mint with GNOME ROCKS on my PC.

However I noticed randomly X will lock up and have to be killed.

Checking /var/log/syslog this is what shows up during the time of when it happens:

Also it seems to kill the widget used to manage open windows and to switch workstations. Strange...

I also checked "top" when X was frozen by "CTRL-ALT-F2" but the CPU usage was at 1 percent so it wasn't being throttled.

Any ideas?

Well disabling the CPU freq daemon did help a little but but the machine is still locking up.

" Failed to execute child process "/usr/lib/gnome-user-share/gnome-user-share" (No such file or directory)"

I'd look at that.

Well since the laptop had two video cards I decided to use the ATI one rather than the Intel one.

In a perfect world all this would require was downloading one file from AMD, running it, and rebooting.

Sadly thats not the case. Aside the above, I had to uninstall the intel driver and the broken ATI driver that came with the linux distro and then I had to hand create the Xorg.conf file because the automatic configuration kept segfaulting.

Not that big of a deal but... certainly inconvenient.

So far it's stable. So far.
