Linux Mint 13 random shutdown problem

I am running Linux Mint 13 Cinnamon on my laptop Thinkpad T510. It has been stable and good for a few months. But it begins to log out and shut itself down randomly after running for some time. Sometimes, it can be less than 10 minutes after boot. The output of the command "sensors" indicates the CPU temperature is 82 C in normal use, while the critical temperature is 97 C. The CPU is Intel i7 http://ark.intel.com/products/43122/...Cache-1_60-GHz. I don't know if this can be regarded as overheating. Or, I am not sure if the strange behavior should be linked to CPU overheating at all rather than some software level problem. Can anyone suggest how to diagnosize this problem? Thanks!

run "multicore online cpu stress test"

I run folding@home all the time, it's actualy distributed computing project.

Actually I just found the problem by inspecting /var/log/kern.log. It said the temperature shot up beyond 97C at some point so the system was shut down.
