Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Linux Media Labs BT4x showing up bttv unknown/generic

Hello,

I have a linux media labs lmlbt44. I thought it had kernel support. It's showing up as bttv genric. How can I change that?

There is a kernel patch but I'm not sure how to use it.

what's to change? nothing wrong with being listed as a generic bttv tuner... the fact that it's showing up suggests it's just fine.

Thank you for the reply.
I was thinking that it should be fine, because it's supposed to work in kernels after 2.6.3 and I have 2.6.18.

However, I haven't been able to get a picture with xawtv or zoneminder.
The company Liniux Media Labs has a patch for the 2.6.18 Kernel, so I thought I should possibly go ahead and patch the kernel and reinstall it.
