linux compatible modems

considering all the problems I've seen with modem installations, i need some suggestions on which one to buy. I have nothing but win/soft modems, none of which are directly compatible on my redhat 8 system. How about this one:

modem

Any other suggestions (under $25)? Thanks.

Free Cendyne ....

Hi, buddy

See i am not a very rich guy and i am a completely newbie and recently i had bought a Cendyne v. 92 Fax/Data Modem for free after rebate or it means you just need to pay the little tax and stamp fee around $1 from Office Max and originally i had already plan to buy a new modem which was compatible with linux. But I had surprisely bought this Conexant, chipset, Modem for free and within the CD comes with the Modem which contain a driver for linux.
Even though, i had download a new version of rpm package at www.linuxant.com and i got it work properly.
What a surprise!!!!

I hope this helps, buddy/
:newbie:

Can you give me the model number for this? I just need a cheapie v90/92 linux-supported modem for a few months before I upgrade to broadband, and this sounds like the solution. Thanks in advance.

Office Max

hi, :study:

I am surprise that you had accepted my idea and i suggest you better buy it at Office Max. But meanwhile, if u was miles away, then just go to another store and buy the same things. I think it aren't going to be much different.
It's model number was Cendyne's "CDIMM00130".
If u want to know where to get the driver. Go ahead and give me a little information about your system such as following command's output

"uname -a"
"lspci" ( just the part about your modem)

Good luck!:D
