Line-In over Alsa: Record mono only

Hi,

currently I am trying to set up ALSA to record sound from my receiver over SBLive Line In. Playback is fine, definitely stereo, and after toying with the mixer for some time, I even figured how to minimize distortion when recording mono.
Unfortunately, as soon as I switch to stereo, only the left channel receives a signal, no matter how I plug the Cinch cables into my receiver. Of course, the sound file recorded just contains one active channel.

Can anyone perhaps tell me if this is a hardware issue (i. e. get a new sound card) or if there is a mixer switch to record stereo? Could not find anything on this on Google, I'm afraid...

Thanks,
David

Strange, I have the same problems with Audiotrak Prodigy 7.1 when using ALSA version 1.0.10. To record in stereo with any input, I run 'amixer cset name="Capture Source" 1,1'. This sets recording from Line-In jack on my sound card.
