Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Libre Printer Platform?

Does anybody know of any projects to put together or run a completely libre printer? I mean, not one that is simply compatible with a free software PC, but one that is running only free software itself? E.g., has anybody tried to installed their own libre OS over the existing software on a printer?

Yes, it's been done before. Only, this was a FULLY open source printer, not just throwing new firmware on an existing printer. Not sure if that's been attempted.

Thanks, looks interesting. Pretty cool. Though I know for myself I'd have to have something more pre-fab. (Not being the mechanical engineer type.)
