Lexmark 9300 printer - ubuntu 10.4 - unable to print

I am running Ubuntu 10.04. I am trying to print on a Lexmark 9300 series printer connected to a Windows XP machine. I am able to print on an HP Laserjet 5P printer connected to a Windows 7 machine just fine.

I have tried to use the generic driver that Ubuntu suggests but it does not work.

Thanks,
rjakes

:)Hello Rjakes,
After searching the web, I cannot find an answer. As you can read in this link, http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=415817, even wiser gurus get stuck. If you can, return the printer or sell it, and buy a Brother. They often support Linux throughout their website.

Please, read the following links in your pursuit of a good printer:

I hope sincerely that you did not pay much for your printer. Good luck and please, get back to us at Linux Qustions forum with how you proceed. It might help someone else.

Leopold,

I decided to keep the Lexmark as it is relatively new and it my wife's printer and she is still in school. I was able to print with slackware 10.0 with it. I have been wanting to try ubuntu however, and I am disappointed about this, but I can still print, albeit the HP Laserjet 5P is all the way upstairs from here.
