Left mouse click

Ok Linux Community,

I have a problem, I have tried a lot of different flavors of linux Red Hat based ( Fedora, CentOS, and OpenSuse) and Debian based ( Debian 7, 8, Ubuntu 10-14, Puppy, Mint 17, kubuntu ) on 3 different motherboards 2 AMD, and 1 Intel.

It seems that something in linux is broke. I do not think it is the kernal, but more of a support application.

From process of elimination it points very strongly to Gnome 3 and Gnome 3 based desktops.

The reason I am pointing my finger at Gnome 3, is when I first started using Linux, I used Ubuntu 6.06 (Gnome 2.3 based desktop) which was based on Debian 3.1, all went great until Ubuntu 10.10 (Unity desktop based on Gnome 3) that is when my problem first appeared.

So, since I am not a Linux tech, I am more of a user only ( I know enough about terminal to be hazardous, or even dangerous to the system). I did some research and found Debian 6 (Gnome 2.3) works better for my needs, and I did not have any problems, until I updated to Debian 7 (Gnome 3 based). Then the same problem I had before re-appeared.

So, I tried to research the problem to find a solution there were over 10000 hits on google about the problem, but no solutions, patches, or work a rounds listed. Some stated do this, others stated OMG don't do that etc, etc. No real definite fix.

I know this is not a hardware problem, same problem on 3 different mobos made by 3 different companies (Asus, MSI, Intel), 6 different mice 3 wired, 3 wireless all made by different manufactures, in each situation all the equipment worked running Debian 6.

Right now I am running Windows 7 (BTW, I HATE WINDOWS) on my brand new Intel Icore3 cpu, and ASRock H97 Anniversary mobo, why might you ask? Because my freaking left mouse click quits working in linux!

I would rather be running Debian 8, but ,so that I could be able to keep using my computer to keep up with the constant information change in my field I had to switch to a lesser OS.

Please tell me the answer, I mean the mouse would even quit working using live disks, even after installation, and a immediate update the freaking left mouse click stops working, what is the problem?

Debian 6 and Windows worked right out of the box, no fuss, fiddling, or frustration. Yes, that is what I would expect from a higher quality OS like Linux- To work right out of the box.
