Laser printer, cheap to operate, Great driver support!

I currently have a Samsung SCX-4200 laser multifunction printer.

I would like to get a laser printer (for LINUX) (Multifunction) that is cheap to maintain (Cartridges/aftermarket) and doe's NOT have driver problems or proprietary problems!
In other words I want something that the manufactures keep abreast of, drivers and service with a simple automated driver/software update that doe's NOT need user intervention other than a couple button pushes!

Definitely NOT interested in Samsung Hung!!!

All information would be very much appreciated. I know HP is well liked but I feel they are the most expensive printer out there to operate.

Just rant to your hearts content, I'm all ears (except for any Samsung product)!

OpenPrinting is your best one-stop-shop for printing under Linux.

HP printers are what I'd recommend. Great Linux support, and they last forever. You can get a good used one without breaking your budget

If the Laser Printer supports postscript, then you don't need propriety drivers. This will add to the price of the Laser however and many laser printers including many HPs don't support it. If you are interested in an HP Laser printer, check at http://hplip.sourceforge.net/ and see if it is supported with hplip.
