I have following configuration.
P-II 35MHz.
128 MB SDRAM
Motherboard Acorp 6ZX81 Ver:2A
BIOS ID: 01/27/1999-i440ZX-SMC60X-2A69KX3FC-00
BIOS Version: Award Modular BIOS V4.51PG
Till now I have 6.4 GB HDD working fine with dual booting
win-Linux
I have got 40GB samsung HDD
My problem is
-----------------
This new hard disk is not getting recognised by my computer.
I tried to flash the BIOS with 6ZX812B.BIN file using Award Flash.
But it showed error as "The part no not matching with your system." Still my PC works fine with 6.4 GB HDD.
But how can I make my comp recognize the 40GB HDD without using the software provided by Samsung (DM)
Kindly anybody suggest me a solution so that my PC can normally recognize my 40GB fully on booting.
If the disc has the option, you must activate a jumper in the disc to say to the BIOS that the disc is only 32GB. See your disc manual. Perhaps your disc doesn't support this feature. You lose 8GB.
Thanks for the solution. I did that. But I wish to utilize 40GB fully.
Rather I would ask
Now I have already did the jumper setting and have made the BIOS identify the disc as 32GB. Partitioned it as 8 + 8
I am about to install RH Linux 7.3 on it. Will my sweet Linux will be able to recognize n use the rest 32 GB ?
Also if I wish to upgrade the BIOS (I have tried flashing it with 6ZX812A.BIN and 6ZX812B.BIN but both has not changed my BIOS. CAnt understand why. My current BIOS is 6ZX81 Ver 2A
If anybody can give me some hint on upgrading this I will be thankful. I have tried all three possibilities from ACORP website but none had worked.).
I have found this interesting thread in google: google search (message 4).
If you can do something with this, please say it here, I want to know also if this gets or not. Thanx.
