Laptop screen resolution
 

Hi
i have recently installed ubuuntu 7.10
on my laptop inspiron 6400 it has a builtin
graphic card.

no i want to increase the resolution of the
screen the current screen resolution it supports
is 1280*800.

my question is how can i increase the resolution
and is it safe for my laptop.

Yes, I have had this very same problem with my own laptop. Is it a Intel integrated graphics chip, an 855 or 915 chip? If so, try reading the 815resolution or 955 resolution manpage, and see if that helps.
