laptop hard drive standards

I have a gateway solo pro 9300 that is perfectly ok except it has no hard drive. It can boot damn small linux. The specs says ide 2.5 inch hard drive. Are all laptop/notebook ide drives compatible with each other? Is there anything I should be aware of when shopping for a replacement drive?

No, IDE is a standard. BTW, I have a few 2.5" drives here I have no use for, you can have one if you pay the posting.
