Laptop freezes: Is this a hardware or software problem?
I recently re-installed slackware-current and puppy "slacko" 5.3.1.
In both operating systems, I've had the computer freeze or do strange things now and then. I've had it happen using seamonkey in puppy, and using libreoffice in slackware. I have conky running in slackware, and libreoffice was using around 97% processor, and, while I could close that window (and did), libreoffice continued running and I couldn't open any new windows. I crashed the GUI with ctrl+alt+F1, but couldn't get a prompt. Ctr+alt+delete was ineffective (and it was in puppy too).
Why do I think this might be a software problem? It's happening with two different distros, and it started recently. Also, puppy is supposed to start off "fresh every time."
