LaCie Firewire 800 PCI card problem with R

@#$%%%!! Brushed the CR key before I was finished with the subj: line! It should be "LaCie Firewire 800 PCI card problem with RHEL 5"

I put a LaCie Firewire 800 PCI card into an old Dell PowerEdge 2500 server I have which is running RHEL 5. I called LaCie beforehand and they said it should just be "Plug and Play". No expected problems under Linux.

Well, with the card in, my server won't even boot! It freezes right after recognizing my internal SCSI drives.

Other than returning the card and trying another brand, I have no idea how to address this in Linux.

Anyone have any suggestions about how to get this card to work before I just return it?

Try another PCI slot, and clear the PCI config in the BIOS. If it still doesn't work, you may just have a bad card.

Strangely, the PCI slots that matched the card tabs were NOT the right ones. The other slots where the card fit, but don't match the card tabs, are what work. Machine boots and LSPCI sees the card. The FIRST part solved at least ...

Thanks for the advice.
