KVM switch USB&HDMI that switches with keystroke

I am dreaming of plugging a linux machine and a windows laptop on a single monitor with HDMI. I also need USB for keyboard and mouse. I have my eyes on Digitus DS-11900 but it does not really promise that the keystroke (twice scrolllock) would work from linux to windows - from windows it should work.
So what gives actually, why would it not do it from linux?

Does anyone have experience with this one or another one that would do the job?
I would really prefer one the switching can be steered with keyboard - and no I would not like to pay much over 50 EUR for it.

As I understand it the switch intercepts the keystrokes so it should work with any OS.

Well, yes, only that Digitus manual describes the hotkey function and then gives Windows in parenthis (as if the functioning was only limited to Windows) - of course it could also indicate that they are too lazy to do exhaustive testing and give only the windows in order to be safe. Also I would readily agree with PS/2 keyboard the stuff being that simple, but in the case of a USB I am not that sure that being so straigthforward the gadget being able to recognise the signal.

Could be that key change is not supported but I think it's not very complicated to create a driver for it. Maybe I get one for mine raspberry pi and have a look at it.

I'm with wizje on this one, it should be OS independant as the keystroke (Scroll lock x 2) is intercepted by the switch not the OS.
I've got a quad port kvm which uses scroll lock x 2 plus 1,2,3 or 4 to move between the connected systems. It just needs to pull power from the system(s) to make it work.

Play Bonny!

Well I ordered myself the Aten switch anyway as I read that it certainly supports the keystroke switching also from Linux. No difference in price or anything.
