Kodak Digital Camera

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
Hi all,

I have a kodak digital camera. A DC290 hooked up via USB. I am running Mandrake 9.1 and when I plug it in, GTKam pops up on the desktop, but when I double click on the icon and open the prog it says, kodak dc290, "Folder cannot be initialised"

It does'nt matter what program I use they all give the same error.

I installed the latest Red Hat a few weeks back and there were no problems at all, but Mandrake seems to have this bug.

Can anyone give me some ideas or directions of what I might be able to do????

Thanks in advamce,

Peppercorn

Have you tried mounting the camera manually ?

Most digital cameras are mass-storage devices. This means they works exactly like a hard disk or cd-rom.
The filesystem will most likely be a FAT32, so you can mount it like any other FAT32 filesystem.

Mounting and un-Mounting a digital camera

Do a search on LQ for "digital camera" and you will find many threads that can show you how to mount/un-mount a digital camera.

thanks for the reply Mathieu. I tried that mnt command and this is what I got. Can you help??

thanks Peppercorn

Usage: mount -V : print version
mount -h : print this help
mount : list mounted filesystems
mount -l : idem, including volume labels
So far the informational part. Next the mounting.
The command is `mount [-t fstype] something somewhere'.
Details found in /etc/fstab may be omitted.
mount -a [-t|-O] ... : mount all stuff from /etc/fstab
mount device : mount device at the known place
mount directory : mount known device here
mount -t type dev dir : ordinary mount command
Note that one does not really mount a device, one mounts
a filesystem (of the given type) found on the device.
One can also mount an already visible directory tree elsewhere:
mount --bind olddir newdir
or move a subtree:
mount --move olddir newdir
A device can be given by name, say /dev/hda1 or /dev/cdrom,
or by label, using -L label or by uuid, using -U uuid .
Other options: [-nfFrsvw] [-o options] [-p num].
For many more details, say man 8 mount .

Follow the steps from this thread.
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...threadid=80603

Also, make sure that the /mnt/camera directory exists.
