Kodak CX4200 In linux

yes i have searched these forums and found a thread on this camera which led me to links that did not help. I have gphoto2 / libusb installed on a slackware 9.1 machine running kernel 2.6.3. I connect my kodak camera cx4200 and run dmesg

dmesg =>
usb 5-2: new full speed USB device using address 4

then i run lsusb =>
Bus 005 Device 004: ID 040a:0560 Kodak Co.

So linux sees the camera.. yet i run gphoto2 --auto-detect and i receive nothing. Has anyone gotten this camera to work under linux i am clueless and really need to access it.

Thank you in advance.

You probably don't have permission to the camera. Try to use gphoto2 as root.
You you want to access the camera as a normal user (and you probably do), that user needs to have permission to proc/bus/usb/001/002 (depends on which usb-port you are using). Automatically giving users permission to the camera at connect is a little tricky.

Check this howto: http://digikam.free.fr/hotplug/howto.html

Is the first option simpler? (just allowing permission to usb)

And does anyone have a link for doing this (sorry me == newbie)
