check the permissions of /dev/mixer OR /dev/mixer0

and/or put root and your user in the "audio" group

Klick on the Kmix settings and make sure you have "Enable system tray volume control" checked

hi,
i checked "enable system tray control" in settings.i also gave every permission to my account.but it did not effect master volume control.i can control some other volume settings in alsamixer too, but i cannot mute or turn down the general, master volume in both mixers.i could not find any reason but i found that when i plugged only one cable of my 5.1 (except center and the other) i can control the master volume.i think mixers in linux does not have volume control in some speaker input of my sound card.i know it is not a big deal, but i wait your messages and advices.may be solutions?information?a link?
