Hello,

Apologies for creating yet another thread on the subject but after having been through the search function, I could not find either 1) somebody with the exact same setup 2) a working solution.
I am hoping GrueMaster will be able to provide some assistance.
Thank you in advance.

Please find below as much information as I could gather, any help will be much appreciated.

Problem:
Unable to use the microphone on a headset, everything else works fine

System:
Slackware 12, using alsa-lib and alsa-utils 1.0.15, Kmix under KDE, Kernel 2.6.23.1 fresh from kernel.org

Interestingly, up until this post, I've only read horror stories about people not getting ANY sound out of their MCP51 cards.

Note the timestamp difference. I'm looking for a way to get some sound, too. I guess I'll chase down the .15 alsa libs, since Slackware still is stuck on the .14a libs.

PS: I *had* limited, non-controlled sound when I used Slack 11. I'm at Slack 12 and have zip for sound.

I too am part of the MCP51 horror story... and I need to get sound back quickly.

Would using an addon sound card fix the problem ? Recommended cheap guaranteed-to-work-on Linux latest kernel sound card ?
