Kk3b kills scsi /dev entry with DVD burner on USB/ATA link
Perchased a Lindy ATA-USB2 link unit to speed up DVD burns. I am using the same DVD burner that worked in the old unit. (It still works!)
Powering up the DVD burner and plugging in the USB2 link with no disk loaded lsscsi gves:
"[3:0:0:0] cd/dvd LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S BS0S /dev/scd0"
I can read a pre-recorded DVD-R, and I get a status window popup that there is a DVD in the drive.
However if I insert a blank DVD-R (not cheap junk media) and launch K3b either by hand or off the popup window it kills the scsi device file (/dev/scd0).
dmesg found:

I have also tried swapping the burner for another (it also works in the slow external burner unit, same slow speed (0.8x) but it worked) this also gave same error messages on this link/bridge unit.

JM20337
Hi-Speed USB to SATA & PATA Combo Bridge
product brief
Overview
The JM20337 is single chip solution to bridge between USB 2.0, SATA and ATA/ATAPI-based mass storage device. It provides the capability to translate USB 2.0 mass storage commands to serial ATA and ATA/ATAPI communication protocol. The USB adheres to the Mass Storage Class Bulk-Only Transport Specification, and supports dual LUN operation, which could connect to two ATA/ATAPI devices or one ATA/ATAPI device associated with one SATA device. The embedded command parser supports both ATA and ATAPI command set with LBA48 bit addressing capability.
Feature
Compliance
• Compliance with Gen1i, and Gen1m of Serial ATA II Electrical Specification 1.0
• Compliance with USB 2.0 (Hi-Speed) electrical specification
• Compliance with USB Mass Storage Class Bulk-Only Transport Specification
Overall
• Support SATA spread-spectrum transmitter
• Support SATA II Asynchronous Signal Recovery (Hot Plug) feature
• Support 480Mbps High Speed (HS) and 12Mbps Full Speed USB operation
• Support ATA/ATAPI Ultra DMA Mode
• Support ATA/ATAPI PACKET command feature set
• Support ATA/ATAPI LBA48 bit addressing mode
• Support dual LUN (Logic Unit Number) with automatically master/slave enumeration
• Support 12MHz external crystal
• Single-power 3.3V power supply
• 0.18um CMOS technology and 64-pin LQFP ASSP packag
The following is the gen on the JM20337 USB to ATA bridge:
Any suggestions also exact meaning of error codes -71, -62 out of the driver anyone please?
