Keyboard not working on SystemRescueCD (Gentoo) LiveCD
I am trying to backup an image of my hard drive using a SystemRescueCd LiveCD (ht tp :/ /ww w.sysresccd.org/Main_Page). SysrecCD is based off of the Gentoo LiveCD.
I have an Emachines AMD 3000+ Sempron computer with a keyboard in the regular keyboard PS/2 slot. The keyboard stops working when I get to the keymap prompt! Frustrating!! Any suggestions? My mouse is detected, the keyboard is not.
If I boot, telling Linux to skip the keymap selection, I cannot type anything in the Linux console.
Please help if you can......
Specs: 512 MB RAM, ATI RADEON 9550 256 MB, 1991 Mhz AMD Sempron 3000+, E-Machines model W3052, WinXP Home, Standard PS/2 Keyboard, Logitech MX610 Wireless Mouse
I am trying to turn my Emachines computer into a headless Linux server (ftp, http) for college. First, however, I want to backup the disk image of my XP install incase something happens during partitioning or install of whatever linux distro I choose. I'm leaning heavily towards SUSE Linux right now. Is there any distro that excels at being a headless server? Also, what utilities could I use to control a headless Linux server from a laptop pc running XP?
The keyobard part of this post also posted at the Official SytemRescueCD forums

I am having the same issue with fedora core 4, so my guess it is a kernel issue. Did you ever solve this?

No, I have not solved this yet. This is a CURRENT problem for me, especially as I have no USB keyboard in my house.
By the same problem do you mean you have the same pc?

I have an E-machines OEM motherboard (K7M-NF64) running Windows XP. I ran into the keyboard problem when I tried to install Fedora Core 4. The kernel does not seem to detect the PS-2 Keyboard.
I am going to start debugging this problem and will let you know what I find out.
